Farmers and other food entrepreneurs may save up to $1,000 while building their skills and business plans. The savings are matched two-to-one. The resulting $3,000 for things like fencing, irrigation or a down payment on a tractor or farm land. Savings must be from earned income, and occur over a minimum of 6 months and up to 2 years (a third year is sometimes acceptable).
