The FARMS Leadership Program introduces high school students to the importance of environmentally-sound farming practices that preserve land and its resources for future generations. Over the course of a school year, selected youth participants attend monthly field days on farms, ranches, wildlife areas, agriculture businesses, and post-secondary institutions - gaining valuable insight into the food and agriculture industry. At the same time, they are taught leadership, teamwork, communication, and public speaking skills through team projects, event participating, and group discussions about the critical issues in our food system. FARMS participants are also given unique access to post-secondary institutions with agriculture, food, and environmental science programs, and provided an in-depth look at cutting-edge careers.
