Weeds are commonly known as the single biggest challenge for small scale organic farmers. These presentations covered the basics of effective weed management, and compared the pros and cons of known tools and techniques for dealing with weeds in diverse cropping systems. The following topics were covered in a presentation format: importance of timing, crop rotations, planting and cultivation techniques, flaming, organic herbicides, irrigation management, how to deal with problem perennials, tillage techniques, and examples of weed management systems.
