The purpose of this guide is to provide urban food producers in California with an overview of food safety laws and regulations that may impact their operations, as well as guidelines for best practices, or Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), that can help minimize the risk of contamination in the production and exchange of urban-produced foods. This guide will cover best practices for fresh produce safety, urban soils safety, as well as food safety in the context of small animal husbandry (poultry and small livestock) in the urban environment.
