The tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris, is a very serious pest of cotton. Losses of 50 to 150 pounds of lint cotton are common in a normal year. However, the impact on cotton yields can be more than 50 percent of the yield potential if these pests are abundant and left uncontrolled.
