    Tarnished Plant Bugs in Cotton

    Barry Freeman (July, 2011)
    Summary

The tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris, is a very serious pest of cotton. Losses of 50 to 150 pounds of lint cotton are common in a normal year. However, the impact on cotton yields can be more than 50 percent of the yield potential if these pests are abundant and left uncontrolled. This Fact sheet explains methods of evaluating the extent of infestations, potential damage and methods of control.
