The detailed costs for organic alfalfa hay establishment and production in California are presented in this study. This cost study provides guidelines on how to establish and produce organic alfalfa hay to help make production decisions, determine potential returns, prepare budgets, and evaluate production loans. Practices described are based on the production practices considered typical for organically grown alfalfa in California.
