Occupational Noise Exposure: OSHA Standard 1910.95

Carol Lehtola, Charles Brown and, William Becker (September, 2007)
    Summary

This fact sheet is a condensation of Standard 1910.95 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. This document is not intended to be totally inclusive but rather to highlight the information and requirements in the complete OSHA standard that owners and managers of agricultural businesses should understand. Occupational noise levels are a problem in agriculture. Tractors and machines, fans in greenhouses, chain saws, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, packinghouses, etc., all can create excessive occupational noise. Where noise is known or suspected to be excessive, it is important to take readings of noise levels and take corrective action when occupational noise levels are too high.
