All participants in the mentorship program receive a printed toolkit of worksheets to guide them through the program requirements and assist with planning their mentorship. The worksheets are designed around USDA-NRCS's Conservation Planning Framework, which is a 9-step, 3-phase planning process that involves the client, conservation planner, other stakeholders, and the community. The purpose of the framework is to make sure the client doesn't move from phase 1: identifying opportunities and goals to phase 3: implementing a plan without going through phase 2: developing and evaluating alternatives. The worksheets provide a central location for the client to inventory their resources and develop their plans in a way that can be easily communicated with stakeholders in their mentorship.
