Hydroponics is growing plants with their roots suspended in water. The water solution contains all of the nutrients that plants need to grow. Many hydroponic systems involve pumping water across the roots of plants and bubbling air in the water solution so the plant roots can get oxygen. This factsheet will describe a low-investment hydroponics method without pumping water or bubbling air called nonrecirculating hydroponics.
