    Fire Blight is caused by a bacterium, Erwinia amylovora, that can infect many plants in the Rose family but is usually only a severe disease of apple, pear and pyracantha in Arizona. This fact sheet describes the nature of the disease, how to control and a listing of resistant varieties.
