Drip Chemigation: Injecting Fertilizer, Acid and Chlorine

Darbie Granberry, Kerry Harrison and, William Kelley (February, 2012)
    Summary

Drip irrigation is an important component of vegetable production systems in Georgia. More vegetable growers are using plastic-mulched beds and drip irrigation to enhance yields and quality and, in some instances, to promote earlier maturity. Because drip irrigation has proved to be the best irrigation method for vegetables grown on plastic mulch, it has become an integral part of this production system. This bulletin addresses the use of the drip irrigation system for fertigation and chemigation and management techniques to ensure that the irrigation system functions correctly for maximum benefit.
