This video deals with the intricacies of transitioning dairy cows from stored forages in the springtime on to pastures and from pastures back to stored forages in the fall. Dairy cattle are ruminant animals, and as such, they have billions of bacteria in their digestive systems specific to the forages that they are being fed. One has to carefully pay attention to how the animals are transitioned onto and off of pastures to keep animal health and performance at an optimal level.
