Powdery mildew occurs in Alabama on a wide variety of flowers, woody shrubs, and trees. A group of closely related, generally host-specific fungi are known to cause this disease. Damage to developing flower buds may greatly reduce floral quality. Repeated severe mildew infections, especially on some flowers, small shrubs, and tree seedlings, may cause a slow decline in plant health. This publication discusses symptoms and control of this fungi caused disease.
