Summary

Contract grazing means separating ownership and management of livestock and land, in contrast with the traditional concept of a farmer who owns and manages all parts of the farm. Contract grazing can help to manage costs on the dairy farm by covering overhead, operating costs, or operating labor. Contract graziers must find land for grazing and setup new pastures. The publication provides suggestions for how to efficiently rent land for grazing.
