    Commercial Green Onions Production

George Boyhan, Darbie Granberry and, William Kelley (April, 2009)
    Summary

Most green onions (also called salad onions) grown in Georgia are Vidalia onions. These varieties are short-day, mild-flavored onions. The terms "short-day" and "long-day" when used with onions describe the day length under which the particular variety bulbs. This fact sheet addresses cultural practices; pest and disease control; harvest and postharvest handling.
