Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) is a member of the cabbage family. Broccoli was developed from leafy Brassica forms, commonly knows as "Calabrese broccoli," found in the northeastern Mediterranean and southern Europe. This fact sheet informs the reader that broccoli can be produced commercially throughout Georgia, but careful consideration must be given to proper scheduling. With the introduction of new hybrid varieties and increased consumption, broccoli offers potential as a profitable crop for growers who consistently do a good job of production and marketing.
