    Assessing Hail Damage to Corn

Robert Klein and, Charles Shapiro (2011)
    Summary

Being able to determine corn growth state and accurately estimate the amount of defoliation are essential to accurately assessing hail loss. Using the methods described in this resource will produce a reasonable estimate of yield loss. These methods also can be used in other situations where corn has been defoliated, and are a valuable tool in making cropping systems decisions.
