Exploring Farming and Getting Started in Farming Toolkit

The “Exploring Farming and Getting Started in Farming Toolkit” is based on Practical Farmers of Iowa’s two-course approach, developed in 2023, to supporting and preparing beginning farmers. The toolkit is a compilation of resources, including business plans and risk assessment training, from the “Exploring Farming” and “Getting Started in Farming” series that took place in 2023 and were designed as a way to support the unique needs of aspiring and beginning farmers. The materials focus on different farming stages and needs, including aspiring farmers, farmers just getting started and those nearing the end of their beginning farmer status. By sharing these resources, we hope other partners and service providers can adapt the content to create farmer-driven programming that supports the needs of the beginning farmers they serve.
