The 2015 Cottage Food Law allows individuals to make food items that do not require refrigeration, in their private home, for direct sale to an end customer. Cottage food preparation is a not licensed or inspected by a governmental entity. Before selling foods, the cottage food operator must take training and register the cottage food operation with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
